We are Massimo & Tracy, we fell in love with Cape Town and decided to bring our passion here!

Massimo is from Piemonte, in northern Italy & Tracy is from Liverpool, or the”capital of food culture”, as Massimo likes to call it… (tongue in cheek of course)

We feel that when dining with us, you are as good as in our home, and will treat you as such.

Massimo’s Pizza Club started in the garden of our farmhouse in south west France in 2004.

We opened in Hout Bay in January 2009, closed for a move in May 2010, after gaining much respect in food circles for the best pizza around.

We are now known as Massimo’s (as we are not doing just pizzas).

All the photos hanging on the walls are taken by Massimo (or are of a very young Massimo or Tracy).

Our philosophy

We are passionate about food, from kitchen to table!

Everybody knows that one of the secrets of great italian food is its fantastic seasonal ingredients. We do not compromise on quality so we source only the best products from local suppliers. Some greens/veg are even grown in our own garden, how much fresher can you get?

We will slowly introduce other dishes to our already famous pizzas. Our new daily specials are a reflection of the authenticity we hold dear, and the innovative approach we take in our cooking. Everything is prepared freshly, using seasonal produce which challenges us to be creative in the kitchen.

This inevitably means favourite dishes from one day may not be available the next, but will be replaced by other equally interesting specials.

Why the chicken logo?

The idea of the chicken came from this old photo (click to enlarge).

The young trendy bambino is Massimo and the cool guy in the background his papà, the photo was taken more than 40 years ago in Piverone, Massimo’s village, where his family was running a small chicken farm.

(Thanks to Mamma’s diet – or was it papà’s wine? – Massimo was able to ditch the glasses in his 20′s!)

A big print on canvas of the photo is now on display at Massimo’s.
